How To Set Up A LinkedIn Business Page?

When you have a business, your goal is to establish a name in the industry, reach more customers, and grow your ROI. To achieve all these, you must market your business on all social networks and platforms, including LinkedIn.

LinkedIn enables small businesses to reach out to millions of prospects using their platform daily. Studies have shown that LinkedIn users are 2X more likely to buy than customers from other platforms. That said, getting leads from LinkedIn is the best you can do if you want to grow your customer base.

It all begins by signing up for a LinkedIn business page. In this guide, we take you through setting up your LinkedIn business profile.

Steps to set up your LinkedIn Business Page

Not everyone can create a LinkedIn business page. You have to meet the following requirements to be able to set your business page on LinkedIn.

  • Have a personal LinkedIn profile with your real first and last name
  • You should have a LinkedIn profile that is at least seven days old
  • List an existing employee of your company in the “Experience” section
  • You should have several connections on the LinkedIn profile
  • The profile should be “All-Star” or “Intermediate.”
  • Have a company email and website

If you meet all these requirements, you can now proceed to set up your LinkedIn business page by following the below steps:

Step #1 – Create Your LinkedIn Company Page

The first step is to log in to your personal LinkedIn account, and then proceed to the Work icon found at the top right corner of the account dashboard. You will see a window popping up in the right corner as shown in the image below.

Scroll to the bottom of this window and click on Create a Company Page (the + button).

LinkedIn will now ask you to specify the type of business page that you want to create. There are different options here. You can choose a Company, Showcase page, or Educational institute page. In this tutorial, I will show you how you can create a company/business page.

Now, let’s go to the second step.

Step #2 – Fill Out The Business Information

After you click on the Company option, you need to add the company information to the spaces provided. Some of the information required includes company name, business website, company size, industry, and company type.

LinkedIn also allows you to upload your company tagline and logo. Once you have filled out the company information as required, you can check the box and verify that you are a representative of the company you are signing up for on LinkedIn. You can see the live preview at the right side of the screen as shown in the image below. Once you are done, you can click the “Create page” button.

Once you click the create page button, you now have a LinkedIn business page for your company. This was a bit easy; anyone on LinkedIn can follow these steps and end up with a LinkedIn business page similar to the image below.

However, if you want your business page to stand out on LinkedIn, you must go the extra mile.

Step #3 – Optimize your LinkedIn business page

If you want your LinkedIn business page to remain unique and represent your company as a professional, you should do the following:

Add a cover photo to the account

A cover photo takes your business page to the next level by making it look professional. A cover photo is a large image that is shown at the top of the company page. Below is an example of a cover photo Adidas is using on LinkedIn.

When choosing a cover photo, you should ensure it has some of the products you offer, your company team, and a larger version of your company logo and tagline. Always ensure the cover photo is large enough and of high quality. Linked specifies the required cover photo dimensions as 1584 px X 396 px.

To add a cover photo on your business page, simply click on the pencil icon you can find on the dashboard, choose an image, and you have successfully uploaded an cover image.

Add your location

If you want to optimize your LinkedIn business page, you should add your address and location, as shown in the example below by Adidas.

When you have different locations for your business, you can add multiple locations on your business page.

To add locations to your page, select Edit Page option from the dashboard and navigate to Location under about as shown in the image below.

Now, click on Add a Location and fill all the required details like country, street address, city, state, zip code, and location name.

LinkedIn allows you to add multiple locations to your company page.

Write a compelling summary for your business

What you write on your business page profile is important if you want to drive leads. Therefore, you need to write the most compelling summary of your business. The business summary appears under the “Overview” in the About section of the page.

Remember to tell your target audience about your business and what it does when writing a summary.

You can use this platform to promote your products and services. Since LinkedIn is home to most professionals, you can also use this chance to promote and convince professionals to apply to work with your company.

You only have 2000 characters to write your business summary, so you should be keen when choosing your words.

Use the right keywords that most people use when searching your business on LinkedIn and other search engines.

To add business description, go to the page editing option and navigate to Overview under About section and add your business summary as shown in the image below.

Step #4 – Share quality content regularly

Once your business page is ready, you should make it active by sharing regular content with your audience. If you have blog posts on your company website, you can share this on your LinkedIn page – you don’t have to create new content on this platform unless it is necessary.

Use any evergreen content from your website and share it on LinkedIn to keep your page active, engage with followers, and present your business as a leader.

Keep sharing more content on LinkedIn. You can share the latest news in the industry and update your followers on coming events on your LinkedIn business page. By sharing content on LinkedIn regularly, you can grow your following.

LinkedIn allows you to publish different types of content on your page like informative posts, photo, video, document, or you can also create a pole and share an event. Moreover, you are also allowed to notify the audience that your company is hiring and can also celebrate an occasion as a post.

Step #5 – Promote the LinkedIn business page

When you have your business page ready on LinkedIn, the best you can do is to promote it on other platforms and grow your following.

You can start this walk by engaging with your followers on LinkedIn. Ask your audience to add your company to their profile as a place of employment so you can build the credibility of the business page. This way, you can also become part of your followers’ network.

Here are some ways you can promote your LinkedIn page:

  • Social media marketing: You can promote your LinkedIn business page on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Use hashtags: Use trending hashtags to promote your business page on LinkedIn.
  • Sponsored content: Use sponsored content and LinkedIn ads to create targeted campaigns that drive followers to your profile.

At this point, you should now be ready to open a LinkedIn business page, promote it, and reach out to your target audience.

Step #6 – Optimize your LinkedIn “About” page

One of the simplest ways to get the most out of your LinkedIn page is to create an engaging LinkedIn About page. Optimize the company page if you want to get positive results. To do this, you can apply the following steps.

1 – Tell your unique story

If you want customers to learn more about your business, and the milestones you have made so far, tell a story on your business page.

Human beings are not wired to remember facts but stories. If your audience wants to remember your business, products, and services, you should tell a story on your page.

If you tell a story, people will remember the facts about your business for the longest time.

2 – Mention and sell your brand

The next thing you want to do to promote your business on LinkedIn is to sell your brand. This does not mean asking people to pay in exchange for the products and services you offer, no.

You can sell your brand by mentioning your USP and the value your products offer in solving customers’ pain points. Mention the features and characteristics of your products to the audience. Don’t forget to highlight the product’s or service’s benefits or value to your potential customers.

3- Create social proof

How can people trust the authenticity and credibility of your business? If you want LinkedIn users to start following your business, you should establish social proof of your business page. Most people don’t want to be the first to try a new product or follow your company on LinkedIn without social proof. They want to know that you are legit before they decide to follow you.

By providing social proof on your LinkedIn business page, you help potential customers who are still undecided to start buying your products and services.

Add anything on your page that can make people believe in your business. For instance, when you get some honest customer testimonials, you can upload them on your website and LinkedIn “About” page. Providing social proof on the “About” page is a great way to introduce your company to prospects and increase your leads.

Your business needs a company page on LinkedIn because of many reasons. LinkedIn has millions of active users from different parts of the world.
